A report from Ghana claims that Unai Emery has asked his scouts to monitor Crystal Palace’s 17-year-old Ghanaian, David Boateng.

Listed as a member of the Palace u18 side, they describe David Boateng as  “a hard-working central midfielder who scurries around the middle of the park trying to break up attacks and start new ones.”

The report from Ghana claims that Arsenal, along with AC Milan, are interested in the player whom they believe is open to a move away from Selhurst Park in search of ‘fresh challenges’.

Boateng was signed by Palace in January 2010 when he was just nine-years-old. He then made his way through the youth ranks, making 31 appearances and two goals for the u18s and two appearances for the u23s.

Speaking recently after the Crystal Palace u23s had beaten Colchester United 4-1 and he was used as part of a make-shift defence, Boateng said, “We did well today, we dug in.

“We didn’t start well but we ended up winning 4-1. Next week we need to do better, or we’re going to get punished early.

“If we start like that next week, we’re going to get punished because Ipswich are a very good side. We need to start well from the first whistle to the end.”
