Ghanian Thomas Partey has expressed his frustration at how this season has panned out for him at Atletico Madrid amid rumours that Arsenal are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

“At times, I don’t feel good but I can say that I work well in order to help the team when the coach needs me,” Thomas Partey said in an Atletico video interview.

“He [club manager Simeone] knows what I can offer and he asks me to work hard, make the teamwork and think that I’m important in this team.”

Despite what his home country press called ‘an outstanding 17/18’ that included playing over 50 games and winning the Europa League, Thomas has averaged only 42 minutes per game this season and Diego Simeone is said to be on the look-out for a replacement.

Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur is said to head his list.

PSG seem to be the club most strongly linked with a move for Thomas, who also has a goal and three assists this season. Thomas Tuchel, Ghanaweb write, is a long-time fan of the player and could make a move for him in January.

Arsenal, for their part, are said to be ‘keeping an eye’ on the Ghanain as they look around for an Aaron Ramsey replacement.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder currently plays for Atletico Madrid where he’s under contract until 2023.
