Arsenal have announced that Tabea Kemme has ‘experienced a reaction in her knee, relating to the cartilage injury that she sustained back in March.’
Tabea Kemme was carrying the knee injury when she arrived in the summer after 12 years with Turbine Potsdam where she made 140 appearances, winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Frauen-Bundesliga four times in a row between 2009 and 2012.
The cartilage problem required surgery but she was expected to return to action in December.
One of the many things that have changed this season is more information coming from Arsenal in terms of injuries across all teams. Previously, we would have received no information about Kemme until the player returned to action and did an interview about her time on the sidelines.
This season, however, we are getting more information from the club and, while it is not vast amounts, it’s still far better than what we’ve been dealing with.
“I’m totally satisfied,” Kemme told Sportbuzzer after signing for Arsenal. “It was not really the question of whether I do it, but it was immediately clear when I visited Arsenal.
“I’ve longed for that wish, that I would like to use the opportunity to live abroad through football.”
“On the pitch, she’s a beast,” Lia Walti told Arsenal Player about Kemme. “That’s the word. Physically she’s really, really good and nobody likes to play against her.
“In a one against one, she has the ball or she has the other player with a foul, she’s a really physical player who’s always fighting until the end. She never gives up and that’s what her strength is.”
Arsenal have not given a date for Kemme’s return but added, ‘She is already working hard on her rehabilitation and will be following expert medical guidance to bring her back to full fitness as soon as possible.’
