Santi Cazorla scored an absolute stunner for Villarreal as he continues his improbable return to the top of the game.

There’s no denying that, when Arsenal made the decision to let Santi Cazorla leave in the summer when his contract expired, Arsenal fans were sad but understanding. It seemed highly unlikely that he would ever regain the form that had entertained us all for six years when he was with the club.

But few of us factored in Santi’s determination to make it back to the top level and, with Villarreal, that’s exactly what he’s doing.

His strike against Almeria in the Copa Del Rey was his second goal of the season (he also has two assists).

Santi Cazorla has played a total of 688 minutes so far this season, although he has only played 90 minutes once – in the Europa League against Rangers.

He got an assist in that game.
