Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been named WhoScored’s Premier League Player of the Month for October, after his blistering run of form in the last few weeks.

WhoScored give ratings to each player in the Premier League based on statistical analysis of their performances, then build a team of the month based on the highest rated player in each position. You can check out the full team here.

The highest rated player in that team then wins their Player of the Month award. There isn’t much decision making involved, which is why they’d already selected Aubameyang by the morning of November 1st.

It’s no surprise the Arsenal striker was the highest rated. Aubameyang had five shots in October, and all of them resulted in goals. He also provided an assist against Fulham, giving him six goal contributions in three Premier League matches for the month.

It’s pretty hard to beat a record like that. Aubameyang’s overall WhoScored rating for the month was 8.14. Close behind the Arsenal star were Anthony Martial (8.10) and Ross Barkley (8.06), who both made emphatic cases for their managers to put more faith in them last month.

Let’s hope Aubameyang can kick off his November just as impressively against Liverpool on Saturday.
