Vivianne Miedema netted her 17th goal of the season and took herself to within one of the FA WSL goalscoring record for goals scored in a single season while she also closes in on the assist record.

Against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, Vivianne Miedema drew Arsenal level before also setting up one for Dominique Janssen/Bloodworth.

That took her league tally to 14 goals and 7 assists after just nine games. The record for a single season in the FA WSL is 15 for goals, 10 for assists and Miedema still has 11 games to play.

This was from before Sunday’s game against Brighton:

We profiled Miedema when she arrived, calling her a ‘natural born killer’ but her goalscoring this season is simply off the charts. Over the course of her club and international career she has scored 201 goals in 216 games.

She’s still only 22.

Hopefully, the twinge she seemed to feel in her back on Sunday turns out to be nothing to be concerned about.
