Krystian Bielik is starting to find his feet at centre-back for Charlton, after a number of positional changes so far this season.

Bielik started the campaign with Charlton as a central defender but quickly moved forward into defensive midfield. After that, he suffered an injury keeping him out for a month. Since his return, he’s played games both in defence and in midfield, showing that manager Lee Bowyer still isn’t exactly sure how to use the Arsenal man.

However, it’s starting to become clear that Bielik’s best position in this Charlton team is at the back. In his last midfield appearance, Bowyer had to take off the Poland u19 international at half-time. Conversely, starting at centre-back, Bielik is now on a run of three wins and three clean sheets.

The latest of these came on Tuesday night against Walsall. The Arsenal loanee even got himself a goal, which should really endear him to the Charlton fans in the away end.

It was Bielik’s second goal of the season, after he scored a late winner away to Southend United back in September. Whilst it’s nice to add that cherry on top of his performances, the consecutive clean sheets are more encouraging as an Arsenal fan. Hopefully, he can keep them coming.
