UPDATE: Arsenal have confirmed an ACL rupture for Nobbs and you can read more about that here

Jordan Nobbs is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after the midfielder picked up what looked like a serious knee injury during Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

As the game was petering out, Nobbs went into a tackle and came out in a heap as her knee joint opened up.

A deathly silence descended around the ground as the stretcher came on and the oxygen came out. She was, thankfully, sitting up before she was stretchered from the pitch but it is another injury at a time when Arsenal are already thin.

Given how influential Nobbs is in this side, we can all only hope it was not as serious as it first appeared.

Any length of time on the sidelines for Nobbs will be costly for Arsenal given Nobbs impact all over the pitch. Her goal against Everton on Sunday was her ninth of the season while she’s as assist-happy as Mesut Ozil.

With Kim Little still out with a broken leg, Arsenal are light of numbers in the middle.

Speaking to Arsenal.com recently, Nobbs revealed that football has always been ‘everything’ to her, admitting that one of her biggest struggles was getting injured at the World Cup.

“Football was always everything to me,” Nobbs said. “One of the biggest struggles for me, though, was getting injured at the World Cup and being at that tournament and not being able to show my potential. I’ve been football through and through from the off and you soon learn that there’s going to be ups and downs. ”

Let’s hope this down isn’t too big.
