The man who attacked Borussia Dortmund’s bus ahead of thier Champions League tie last season has been sentenced to 14 years in jail in Germany.

The man, who is identified only as ‘Sergej W’ due to Germany’s privacy laws (which don’t seem to cover his photograph being published by Getty images), had allegedly placed a large bet on the share price of Dortmund falling. He then attacked the bus hoping it would be seen as ‘Islamic terrorism’.

Three people were injured in the explosions, including a police officer and Dortmund defender Marc Bartra. Sergej W was charged with 28 counts of attempted murder.

The court found him guilty on Tuesday and sentenced him to 14 years in prison.
