Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi is set to follow Ivan Gazidis to AC Milan, according to reports in Italy, hinting that Arsene Wenger could be following close behind.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Grimandi will join Gazidis at the Serie A side, with the former Arsenal CEO starting work there this month.

Grimandi has spent much of his life with Arsenal, after initially joining as a player in 1997. He spent five years with the club on the pitch, then returned in 2006 to become a scout. Since then he’s been working for the Gunners behind the scenes, for the most part under Arsene Wenger.

That last part is key, because the rumours are that Wenger could be on the way to Milan as well. France Football write that he’s been ‘negotiating for a few weeks’ with the Italians to replace Gennaro Gattuso as head coach. Those negotiations are reportedly now close to succeeding. Some of their sources even say it’s already a ‘done deal’.

If the rumours about Grimandi’s move to Milan are true, it implies there’s truth in the Wenger deal too. Presumably, the 47-year-old would jump at the chance to work under his former manager again. We’ll see if that’s the case.
