Arsenal are ready to take part in a transfer battle with five other European clubs for the signature of Club Brugge youth star Cyril Ngonge, according to reports.

The Guardian relay reports that Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Lille and Internazionale are all ready to fight Arsenal for the 18-year-old striker. Ngonge has drawn interest with the Club Brugge u19 side, scoring four goals in four UEFA Youth League games this season.

Whilst scoring for Brugge’s youth side might not sound like the most impressive achievement, those goals came against Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco. Clearly, that’s enough to have the top teams around Europe taking notice.

The Belgian forward also got his first call-up to his country’s u19 side recently, and he scored on his first start. Ngonge’s contract with Brugge expires in 2019, meaning he could be available in a cut-price deal.

Players under the age of 23 usually require a training compensation fee to be paid to their former club, but that’s negligible compared to the kind of fee a club like Brugge would usually demand when they get top European sides sniffing around.

Arsenal do already have their fair share of talented young strikers, from Eddie Nketiah and Tyreece John-Jules to Folarin Balogun and Sam Greenwood. We’ll see if they’re interested in adding another in January.
