Arsenal are considering raiding Sampdoria again, after the success of Lucas Torreira’s transfer, this time to sign defender Joachim Andersen.

That’s according to reports in Italy from La Repubblica, who claim that a Manchester United scout monitoring Andersen has revealed to them that Arsenal are also closely following the centre-back.

The report suggests the fee for the defender is set at around £30m, and it could rise even higher if there’s sufficient interest.

The Denmark u21 international is a regular for the Serie A side, playing all 1,080 minutes of their season so far. He’s helped them to keep six clean sheets in 12 games, including one in a famous 3-0 win over Napoli. Strong in aerial duels and with a good eye for a pass, Anderson could be a good fit for Unai Emery’s side.

Arsenal did business with Sampdoria over the summer, with both clubs pretty pleased with the end result. The Italian side got €30m, €5m above Torreira’s release clause, whereas the Gunners landed their man ahead of a number of other top clubs and only had to pay the fee in €10m instalments.

Hopefully, they can find a similar compromise for Andersen, if Arsenal really are interested in him.
