If Alexis Sanchez was thinking time away with his national team might help him forget his Manchester United woes, then he was mistaken.

Lining up for Chile against Costa Rica, Alexis won a penalty that he then opted to take himself.

We’ve all seen Alexis score Panenka penalties when was with Arsenal but it seems as if his time with Jose Mourinho has drained his brain of how to even kick a football.

Although this happened a few days ago, I’d not come across it on my travels until this morning and I figured if I hadn’t seen it then plenty of you might have missed it too.

Video should start around 9mins in.

Speaking recently, Arsene Wenger admitted he believes the striker’s confidence is gone. “I believe he has lost confidence,” Wenger said.

“The strength of Alexis Sanchez is to take initiative to dribble and to take people on.

“Those are the players who are most vulnerable when they lose confidence their game is based on that and having that feeling to take initiative, he has lost that slowly.

“Since the start of the season he had a high level of physical energy but he has lost that as well.

“Certainly he is refreshed now because Mourinho left him out for a while.”
