Alex Iwobi has named Eden Hazard as the LeBron James of the Premier League, speaking at an NBA2K19 gaming tournament in the last week.

Iwobi was asked a number of questions comparing the Premier League to the NBA on the day, understandably given he plays in one competition and was attending an event based around the other.

One of those questions related to LeBron James, the star player for the LA Lakers and one of the all-time greatest basketball players in history. Amy Jackson asked Iwobi which Premier League player he would compare to LeBron.

“I would say Hazard,” Iwobi said. “He’s dominating and has a had a very good season so far and he’s always a top performer.”

As for who would make the best basketball player in the Arsenal squad, Iwobi pointed out that the obvious choice has just retired.

“I was going to say Per Mertesacker but he’s retired now so I’m not sure any more,” Iwobi replied. “Lacazette is good but he’s just so short – I’ll give it to Laca anyway.”

It might be surprising to hear Iwobi pick Lacazette given the 27-year-old’s physical disadvantages in basketball terms. However, we have seen the striker playing the sport before. In the lead up to his transfer to Arsenal, he posted pictures of himself seemingly on a private court.

Plus he regularly tweets about watching games, and recently posted a picture of himself in a Celtics hoodie:

Finally, Iwobi answered a question about who he’d pick for a Premier League basketball team:

“All goalkeepers! They’re all tall and good with their hands. Asmir Begovic is here and he’s very tall so he’d be good. I’d get Petr Cech in there as well, he would be a good basketball player.”
