Reiss Nelson caught the eye once again on Saturday, helping loan side Hoffenheim to take the lead in their 4-0 derby victory over Stuttgart.

Hoffenheim saw their chances of winning given a big early boost when Stuttgart were reduced to 10 men, thanks to a red card in the eighth minute. After that, it was just about making the breakthrough, but Julian Nagelsmann’s side struggled to do so with their opponents sitting back and defending.

It took a moment of magic from Nelson to open things up, as he took on three Stuttgart players in the box before firing a shot at the goalkeeper. The rebound fell at the feet of Joshua Brenet, who broke the deadlock by putting the chance away.

Nelson might not technically get the assist in his official Bundesliga stats, but he certainly deserved one, and he was happy to claim one in his post-match Twitter post.

Hoffenheim went on to score three more goals in quick succession, killing the game off. Nelson completed 87% of his passes on the day, creating one chance, taking two shots and completing three out of his four attempted dribbles.

Arsenal’s 18-year-old also won over half of his duels, made one interception and one tackle. Overall, a solid performance, even without a goal.
