The Daily Star are today reporting that Tottenham have joined Arsenal in the ‘race’ for Manchester United’s Eric Bailly.
Jeremy Cross writes that the Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is a big admirer of the player but that Arsenal are also interested in the Ivorian.
United, however, may not be prepared to sell to one of their rivals and we know that Mourinho has had issues with selling to Arsenal before, although that was more to do with his personal rivalry with Arsene Wenger than the two clubs.
Cross claims that the player is growing increasingly disillusioned with life at Old Trafford under Mourinho and could push for a move. My experience of these things, after years of writing, about them is that Bailly will settle at United and this will all fade into the transfer ether.

United signed Bailly in the summer of 2016, paying Villarreal £34.2m for his signature. With another two years left on his contract and the rise of transfer fees since then, it’s hard to imagine either Tottenham or Arsenal having the money needed to persuade United to part with the defender.
Tottenham will find their spending restricted for quite some time because of their stadium move while Arsenal are still struggling to keep up with the financial demands of modern football despite their own stadium being over 10 years old.
