Reiss Nelson has been named in WhoScored’s u21 European Team of the Week, after his performance at the weekend against 1. FC Nürnberg.

Nelson joined international teammate and close friend Jadon Sancho in the XI this week. WhoScored give ratings to each player in the top five European leagues based on statistical analysis of their performances, then build a team of the week containing the best-rated player in each position.

As you can see, Nelson got one of the best ratings in the entire team, with only two players scoring higher. It’s no surprise, considering the Arsenal loanee’s stats against Nürnberg.

The main boost to his final rating came from his two goals, of course. He scored those goals with his only two shots on target, so there were no accuracy problems here. The 18-year-old also completed 88% of his passes and created three chances. No one player created more than that in the match.

Of Nelson’s three attempted dribbles, he completed two, and he even made a successful tackle to add to the stats. The only downside was getting dispossessed three times, but that’s a risk you take when you’re the most advanced player on your team, as Nelson was, on average.

Let’s hope he can keep his good form up this weekend.
