Mesut Ozil took the captain’s armband against Leicester and put in one of the best captains performances anyone could remember.

Leading the team, Mesut Ozil finished the night with a goal and an assist, but his performance delivered much more than that as Arsenal recorded their 10th win in a row.

One shot, four key passes (nobody played more), 92.5% pass accuracy (nobody kept the ball better), Ozil even made two tackles as he grabbed hold of the game and ripped its head off.

After the game, he took to Twitter and seemed quite pleased with how the evening had gone:

Speaking after the match, Unai Emery said, “Mesut is a player that always keeps giving his best and is always surprising everyone and he’s a player that we’re very grateful and very lucky to have.

“When the team plays well with good football and he can find space he’s always a killer with his passes and finishes, so for us to have a player like him in the team is very important.

“It’s always a blessing to have players like that but the work comes from the whole team and it comes from the back from the goalkeeper to the striker.

“We’re all one and when you have players with such quality it’s always that little bit easier.”
