Konstantinos Mavropanos has revealed that he’ll be ‘back soon’ in an social media post this weekend, which is great news considering the limited centre-back options available to Unai Emery recently.

Mavropanos is yet to make an appearance for the first-team or the u23s this season, after picking up an injury in training early in the campaign. It’s a shame, after he made such a strong start to his Premier League career back in April, particularly as Arsenal could’ve used an extra defender or two in recent weeks.

With Laurent Koscielny’s long-term injury, Sokratis Papastathopoulos picking up a couple of knocks and Calum Chambers going on loan, Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi had to hold down the fort on their own for a while. Even 18-year-old Zech Medley had to fill a spot in the squad to make up the defensive numbers.

However, it looks like Mavropanos is close to a return, based on his recent Instagram post:

The official line from Arsenal is that Mavropanos is still recovering from a groin injury, and is expected to return to full training in November. Hopefully, this post means he’s still on track for that, and he can help the Gunners through a historically difficult month. We’ll have to wait and see.
