Centre-back Donervon Daniels and striker Armand Gnanduillet have both been ruled out of Blackpool’s trip to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Blackpool confirmed on their club website that Daniels will miss the clash with a hamstring injury. The defender felt his hamstring tighten in the warm-up to Saturday’s match, and manager Terry McPhillips explained: “It doesn’t seem to be bad, but Wednesday will certainly come too early for him.”

The Blackpool Gazette describe Daniels as the side’s ‘first-choice centre-back’, and they call the absence a ‘major blow’ to the League One side. It certainly doesn’t look good that they conceded three goals to Fleetwood Town without him on Saturday.

As for Gnanduillet, he is certainly out of the clash, after picking up a red card at the weekend. He’ll have to serve his suspension during the midweek trip to North London.

Again, that’s a big blow for Blackpool. Gnanduillet has two goals in three Carabao Cup matches this season, starting in each round of the competition so far. He also scored the winner in their match against Scunthorpe United last Tuesday, so getting himself sent off in the fourth minute of injury time against Fleetwood was a terrible idea.

Arsenal have some injury problems of their own, but they can’t fall back on that excuse anymore. Unai Emery’s side must win this one.
