Arsenal are ‘especially’ involved in the race to sign Cengiz Under from AS Roma, ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, according to reports in Italy.

Sport Witness recently rounded up a number of reports on the subject of Arsenal interest in Under. Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport claim Arsenal are one of four English clubs interested in the winger’s signature. Meanwhile, Calciomercato add that Bayern, Barcelona and ‘especially Arsenal’ are in the race for the player.

Calciomercato reported earlier this month that Roma are looking to tie Under down to a new contract, to protect their asset. The player’s agent has confirmed that his client should command a price of around €50m.

No wonder, considering how the winger is performing on the pitch at the moment. This season Under already has three goals and five assists in just 11 appearances. That includes four goal contributions in three games in the Champions League, putting Roma neck and neck with Real Madrid in their group.

Arsenal could certainly use a more creative winger. The likes of Aubameyang and Welbeck have been playing out wide at points over the last year, which is great for finishing chances, but not so good for making them. We’ll see if the Gunners make anything of their interest in January or next summer.
