Danielle Carter joked she’s ‘devastated’ after learning that a young fan who won her boots actually supports Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Carter did a Q&A session at a training session for young players in Stoke Newington last weekend, topping it off by giving a couple of pairs of boots away. The Arsenal forward picked the names out of a hat, with one winner a young girl called Lauren.

Lauren’s mother Sharon thanked Carter on Twitter afterwards, but the 25-year-old responded that she was a bit gutted to learn who the giveaway winner supported:

Lauren’s mother apologised but confirmed her whole family are Tottenham fans through and through, before adding that Carter is still an inspiration for her daughter.

Given Carter’s spent her entire senior career with Arsenal so far, it’s not surprising to see her showing exactly where her loyalties lie.

The Gunners have made a really strong start to the season, winning their first three WSL matches and amassing a huge goal difference of 13 in the process. Having only played three games, they’re already top of the league ahead of a number of teams who have played four.

Add to that a couple of big victories in the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup, and Joe Montemurro’s side is looking really strong right now. Let’s hope they can keep that going.
