Bukayo Saka is set to sign professional terms with Arsenal, according to a report, after turning 17 on Wednesday.

Arsenal Youth write that Saka will put pen to paper on an extension as soon as he returns from international duty with England’s u18s. He only signed scholarship terms over the summer, but Arsenal are clearly keen to get him tied down to a professional deal.

It’s no surprise either. Despite just turning 17, Saka already looks very impressive for the u23s, and he has two assists in just 76 minutes for the top academy side this season. That could easily have been three, as he created a couple of great chances late on against Spurs last week, but the Gunners’ forwards were a bit wasteful.

Add to that two goals and two assists from just two starts for the u18s, and it looks like Saka is ready to have a big season for the academy.

A left-footed left-winger, Saka is a quick dribbler with a dangerous cross in his locker. He can certainly finish chances when they fall his way, but right now he spends more time out wide creating them.

With Reiss Nelson off on loan at Hoffenheim, there could be a spot up for grabs in the u23s’ front three, so it’s up to Saka to make the most of the opportunity. Hopefully he gets that contract signed as soon as possible and pushes on.
