Peter Cech’s ability with the ball at his feet has come under intense scrutiny this season, mainly because he seems to be making a hash of it, but he’s being asked to play the ball more than any of his peers and is still doing better than Hugo Lloris and David de Gea.

This season has certainly been a shock to the system for Cech who is being asked to change his game at the tender age of 36.

While we all know Unai Emery wants Arsenal to build from the back, and that means starting with the keeper, I’m not sure many of us realised just how much we would be asking Cech to get involved.

Found on Reddit (I’ve no idea what paper it’s from), this graphic certainly makes for interesting reading:

As you can see from the above chart, while Cech’s % is not as high as three of the most expensive keepers in the league (who are all significantly younger, Alisson cost £66.8m and is 25, Ederson £35m/25 Kepa £71.6m/23) he is still doing better than Spurs’ Hugo Lloris (£1134m/31) who has come in for no criticism while David de Gea (£18.9m/27), for years seen as the best keeper in the league languishes down the table.
