Arsenal and Tottenham are ‘on red alert’ after hearing that Eric Bailly is considering leaving Manchester United in January, according to reports.

The Mirror write that Bailly is becoming increasingly frustrated at his struggle for starts under Jose Mourinho. The Ivory Coast international started United’s first two league games, before missing out completely against Spurs, and making one-minute substitute appearances against Burnley and Watford.

Arsenal could reportedly look to add Bailly to their back line if he doesn’t get his regular starting spot back by the time the winter window opens. They’re not the only ones though, with Mauricio Pochettino a big fan ever since the centre-back’s time in Spain.

With suspensions, injuries and inconsistent team selection, Bailly hasn’t had three league starts in a row since September 2017, a full year ago. Despite the belief among fans that he’s one of the better centre-backs at the club, he’s just not getting a run in the team to prove his ability.

At Arsenal, we’ve seen the opposite with Sokratis Papastathopoulos. When he joined some fans were dubious about his ability, but Unai Emery kept faith in his new signing, and right now he’s the back-five’s top performer.

All Bailly wants is a similar opportunity. If Mourinho can’t provide it, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see the 24-year-old get restless.
