17-year-old midfielder Jordan McEneff has picked up an injury, according to reports.

Arsenal Youth report that the Republic of Ireland u17 international has become the second youth player this week to learn he’s set for a spell on the sidelines. Xavier Amaechi was the first, posting on social media about an injury that will keep him out until 2019.

There are no further details on the timeframe for McEneff’s recovery at this stage, but it’s a shame, with the way things were going for him.

It was only recently that the midfielder signed professional terms with Arsenal. He was then involved in the Arsenal u18s’ first four games of the season, playing 90 minutes in three wins, including a 7-0 victory over Leicester.

McEneff previously admitted that he almost ended up joining Spurs after a trial. Then Arsenal came in, and he decided he felt more “at home and comfortable” with the Gunners. His older brother Aaron, who now plays for Derry City, once had a spell with Tottenham, hence their interest in signing the now Arsenal man.

Hopefully Jordan gets back to full fitness as soon as possible.
