Manchester United fans were pretty unanimously pleased to see Alexis Sanchez completely dropped from Jose Mourinho’s squad to face West Ham on Saturday.
Sanchez travelled with the squad to face West Ham this weekend, and reportedly doesn’t have any injury problems. Nonetheless, when it came to announcing the squad for the match, Mourinho omitted the Chilean completely. He didn’t even give the 29-year-old a spot on the bench.
The former Arsenal man has been in pretty terrible form so far this season. He has one assist in his first five appearances, but no goals, and hasn’t completed 90 minutes since the opening day match against Leicester City.
That’s unlikely to be a fitness issue, since Sanchez had a full pre-season and no World Cup commitments over the summer. He’s clearly just not doing what Mourinho wants him to do on the pitch.
As a result, it’s perhaps no surprise to see that Manchester United fans are pretty pleased to see Sanchez’s poor showings clearly noted by the boss.
Sanchez completely dropped. Martial plays. Jose showing he does reward good form. Come on lads!!!

You’d expect this kind of reaction from Arsenal fans, poking fun at their former player, but it’s even more damning to see Sanchez’s own supporters turning on him. Not the kind of reception he was probably expecting eight months after his transfer.
