Neil Warnock has admitted his Cardiff City side failed to answer any questions in their League Cup defeat to Norwich City on Tuesday. and says the match cleared up any uncertainty about team selection for Sunday’s Arsenal clash.

Cardiff played Norwich at home in the second round of the League Cup. The final scoreline of 3-1 was kind to them, considering their one consolation goal came at 3-0 down with less than 15 minutes to go, when Norwich had taken their foot off the gas a bit.

Speaking after the game, in quotes reported by Wednesday’s Daily Mail, Warnock admitted any selection doubts he had for the weekend’s Arsenal clash are now gone.

“It’s opened my eyes for team selection on Sunday and that’s what it was meant to be,” he said. “The one major decision I had for Sunday, I won’t be doing that now, but I’m pretty sure of what I’m going to go with. It hasn’t answered my questions tonight.”

It was fairly surprising to see Cardiff concede three goals in one game, after their early Premier League matches. In the last two games Warnock’s side hadn’t let any goals in, and nor had they scored any.

Arsenal fans will hope that opens up vulnerabilities in the defence, for the Gunners to take advantage of in Sunday’s 13:30 kick-off. Arsene Wenger’s record at breaking down the smaller teams away from home was poor in his final season at the club, but hopefully Unai Emery can put the club back on the right path with a win this weekend.
