Galatasaray have contacted Arsenal over signing Danny Welbeck before the end of the month, according to reports in Turkey.

CalcioMercato relay Turkish reports that Galatasaray have asked Arsenal about Welbeck. Earlier last week, AMK reported that Arsenal were ‘prepared’ to sell the 27-year-old, and Galatasaray were planning an attempt to sign him as a result. This seems to be a continuation on that same story.

As a result, the same reservations about how valid the claims are continue to crop up here. Turkish-Football wrote that sources close to Welbeck have told them the striker is happy at Arsenal, and doesn’t want to relocate to Turkey at this stage.

It’s not like the Gunners will be desperate to sell the striker, considering they can’t bring anyone else in until January anyway. If Welbeck isn’t pushing for a move, it’s hard to see any way the transfer goes through.

There’s still a couple of weeks for Galatasaray to convince the striker to change his mind, since the Turkish transfer deadline isn’t until 1st September. Welbeck still hasn’t played any minutes for Arsenal just yet, and even Alexandre Lacazette is struggling to get into the team ahead of him, so it’s possible that might convince him to consider it. We’ll see.
