Aaron Ramsey rejected Arsenal’s initial contract extension offer, and his future is very much still up in the air, according to reports in the English media.

The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday wrote that Ramsey’s future “remains in doubt”. His spot in the Arsenal side is reportedly not certain, and he’s “already rejected one extension” to his current contract, which expires at the end of the year.

They’re not the only ones to suggest Ramsey may not have long left at Arsenal either. Tuesday’s Daily Mail claims the 27-year-old’s Arsenal career is “on the line”.

They claim Unai Emery dropped Ramsey against Chelsea because the head coach wasn’t happy with his performance in the Manchester City match, and there’s apparently uncertainty over where the Welshman fits into the team.

Ramsey’s teammates and the player himself were all reportedly surprised by the decision to leave him out, and that obviously could have an impact on contract negotiations. Arsenal may consider selling him in January if they can’t agree a deal by then.

Hopefully, Ramsey just uses the situation as motivation to give his best to the team, get back in the starting lineup and earn a nice new deal. As long as he doesn’t pull an Alexis Sanchez, I think we can forgive some uncertainty at this stage.
