Lucas Perez’s agent says the priority for the Arsenal forward is remaining in the Premier League, amid rumours of a possible move to West Ham United.
Various reports suggest Perez is close to a move to West Ham before the transfer deadline on Thursday, for a fee in the region of £10m. There was one source claiming the fee was closer to £3m, which sent fans on social media into fits of rage, but that’s the only source reporting the ridiculously low figure, so put your pitchforks away for now.
Meanwhile, Perez’s agent hasn’t confirmed a move away, but was keen to stress that his client wants to stay in England, seemingly ending the rumours of a move to the likes of Frosinone, Sporting CP or Besiktas.
“The boy wants to stay in the Premier League,” the agent said. “West Ham is a great club that would allow him to remain in London. At this moment that is the absolute priority.”
There’s still a possibility the 29-year-old stays at Arsenal, with some English sources like the Independent writing that Perez wants to fight for his place at the club. However, given he didn’t make the squad for the last couple of pre-season friendlies, the striker would definitely have a much better chance of starting matches for West Ham.
Only two more days of this back-and-forth now, before we’ll know for sure.
