Lucas Perez is closing in on a move to West Ham United, for a fee as low as £4m, according to the latest reports.
The Mirror wrote on Sunday night that West Ham were targeting Perez ahead of the transfer deadline, as they look to improve their attacking options. The Spaniard reportedly won’t be part of Unai Emery’s plans next season, so he’s free to leave for the East London club.
Sky Sports confirmed on Monday morning that their sources inform them the Hammers are interested in making the signing.
Mirror journalist Matty Lawless then added that Perez is ‘very close’ to completing the move, for a fee of £4m. If true, that would really represent a bargain for West Ham, considering Arsenal bought the forward for around £17m just two seasons ago.
Perez also has an offer from Sporting CP, according to Goal’s Chris Wheatley. However, the player would prefer to stay in London, so he’s unlikely to take up that option at this stage.
The media can’t seem to make their minds up though, because other sources like the Independent were reporting yesterday that Perez wanted to fight for his place at Arsenal. With only a few days until the Premier League transfer deadline on Thursday, we should know for sure soon enough.
