Lucas Perez is joining West Ham United in a deadline day deal, as confirmed by Jack Wilshere on Instagram.

Perez had started to look more and more likely to leave as pre-season went on, as he was left out of the final friendlies, and links to West Ham began to appear. Now, former Gunner Jack Wilshere has provided his own confirmation of the transfer in an Instagram video:

Wilshere himself of course moved to West Ham earlier in the summer, after spending over a decade at Arsenal. It therefore makes sense he would have some involvement in helping to convince his former teammate to join up with him again at the London Stadium.

Hopefully we’ll get official confirmation from the two club accounts in the coming hours, to put to rest any lingering doubts. Usually once a player is sitting in a new stadium wearing a new shirt among other players for that team, that’s confirmation enough.

Perez scored seven goals and provided five assists in 21 appearances for Arsenal, and we wish him well for the future.
