David Ospina is preparing to finally complete a move away from Arsenal on Friday, after pictures emerged of the goalkeeper in a Napoli scarf on Thursday.

The Serie A transfer deadline is on Friday 17th August, as they took the decision to close the window before the season gets underway, just like the Premier League. As a result, Ospina’s departure to Napoli has to be announced in the coming hours, or it won’t happen this summer.

According to reports, Napoli are set to loan Ospina for a €1m fee, with an option to buy between €4m (£3.59m) and €8m (£7.17m), depending on which source you believe. Either way, that represents a profit on Arsenal’s initial investment in the goalkeeper, as the club only paid £3m to sign him from Nice in the first place.

Pictures emerged on Thursday of Ospina turning up to complete his medical, and wearing a Napoli scarf, which you can see below.

It’s good that this saga finally seems to be coming to an end. Obviously whether this is the last of Ospina we see at Arsenal depends on Napoli’s decision to activate the option to buy in his contract next summer.

For now though, at least the Gunners can focus on the goalkeepers sticking around for the season.
