Tyreece John-Jules and Bukayo Saka continue to show their talent at u18 level, with the pair combining to score five goals in a 7-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday.

John-Jules and Saka were two of the stars of Arsenal’s run to the Youth Cup final last season, despite the fact that neither of them even turn 18 until next year.

With competition fierce in the u23s, the duo continue to ply their trade at u18 level for now, but it surely won’t be long until they get more chances to step up, based on this showing.

It was actually James Olayinka who broke the deadlock, before John-Jules added a second, both set up by Matt Smith. Then John-Jules and Saka started to steal the show, with the latter setting up the former for 3-0, before the striker completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the second half.

Saka then scored a brace of his own, before setting up Mazeed Ogungbo for Arsenal’s seventh. Turning 17 in September, Saka already has a couple of assists in substitute appearances for the u23s this month as well.

It’s not easy to get starts in the u23s, with Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Xavier Amaechi ahead of you. Saka and John-Jules can make another statement next week against the u18 Premier League team-to-beat in Chelsea though. Hopefully they keep the goals coming.
