Greek side PAOK FC are expected to announce the signing of Chuba Akpom on Thursday, after completing his medical, according to reports in the country.

Greek outlet Gazzetta.gr write that there were some delays in completing the signing, due to ‘bureaucratic and procedural issues’. However, there were no problems in terms of the length of contract, or Akpom’s wages, so the announcement will take place on Thursday.

The Arsenal striker has already completed his medical with the club, so now everything else is seemingly just a formality.

The transfer is a permanent one, worth between £900k and £2m, depending on which source you believe. No major influx of cash, then, but it’s another player off the wage books and gives Akpom himself a chance to get his career going again. He’ll sign a three-year deal with his new club, with an €8m release clause.

Akpom earned himself this permanent move with his performances at the end of last season. After just one goal in his first six games for Sint-Truiden, he then scored five and assisted one in 10 play-off matches.

We have no real reason to doubt the validity of the exit rumours, since Akpom wasn’t in the squad for the first-team against Chelsea, nor the u23s against AFC Hornchurch. He’s clearly negotiating a move somewhere, and all the reports suggest it’s to PAOK.
