Calum Chambers is expected to have a medical at Fulham on Monday after he agreed a deal to join the Cottagers on loan for the season.
Chambers, who only agreed a four-year deal with Arsenal last month, is expected to have a future at the club with Unai Emery an admirer of the Englishman.
It had been expected that Chambers would see more game time at Arsenal this season but it seems as if the club have decided to send him somewhere he can play every game.
Chambers had also been tipped for a change of position at Arsenal with Emery deploying him as a defensive midfielder during the pre-season game against Boreham Wood.
“The manager spoke to me about the position,” Chambers told the club’s official website at the time.
“It’s a new one for me. I played there a little bit growing up. It’s a position I feel like I can grow to enjoy and out there today I felt good, I just need to train and practice in games in that position to get comfortable.”
Since then, however, Chambers has been used in a more familiar centreback role.
Chambers arrived at Arsenal from Southampton in 2014 for just over £18m. His development has certainly seemed to stall at the club over the last couple of seasons. Chambers made just 12 Premier League appearances last season, 25 in total across all competitions.
