Bayer Leverkusen poked fun at Petr Čech after Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, suggesting the Gunners should give former Leverkusen man Bernd Leno a chance.

Although Čech’s did well to limit City to just two goals, making a number of good saves, he didn’t look as comfortable on the ball. This was particularly highlighted by the fact he almost turned a pass into his own net, missing the intended target by a distance and putting it out for a corner.

Bayer Leverkusen were quick to jump on a GIF of the moment on Twitter, suggesting they “know a guy” who could take Čech’s place.

In case that one tweet was too cryptic, the Bundesliga side’s account then replied again, with a clip of Leno’s build up play from the back.

This might just be one Čech has to take on the chin, because his distribution wasn’t at its best against City. He’ll be hoping he can turn it around against Chelsea, whilst Leno will probably think he deserves a chance to take the 36-year-old’s place.

It’s an unfamiliar situation for Leno, as he’s only been on the bench for three competitive matches in his entire club career so far. We’ll see how long he stays there.
