Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken to social media to troll teammate Matteo Guendouzi over his pace, posting a list of the fastest players at Arsenal to his Instagram story.

Guendouzi has taken no time at all to settle in at Arsenal, both on and off the pitch. Within days he already seemed close to Aubameyang and Lacazette in training, and he carried that chemistry onto the pitch with some great performances in pre-season and Arsenal’s opening games of the campaign.

Unfortunately for him, Aubameyang now clearly feels comfortable having a joke at his new friend’s expense. He posted a list of the fastest players at Arsenal in training on Thursday, along with the caption “Matteo Guendouzi???? You’re at 93%, you can still make progress.”

There’s no surprise seeing Aubameyang and Hector Bellerin topping the charts for pace, but after that there are a few unexpected entrants at the top of the list. Sokratis Papastathopoulos was apparently third fastest on the day, and he wasn’t even going at his maximum speed. Alex Iwobi could also push for a top three spot if he hits 100%.

Of course, pace on the pitch is about more than just top speed. It’s also about acceleration, and we don’t have access to those figures at this stage. Nonetheless, clearly Sokratis and his centre-back partner Shkodran Mustafi aren’t as slow as some people think. Perhaps it’s just about making better use of that pace.
