Lucas Torreira is on his way to London, ahead of pre-season training starting on Monday, and he posted a picture on social media to show his journey is underway.
With the rest of the squad returning from their tour of Singapore, and Torreira’s extended holiday coming to an end, the Uruguayan will now join up with his new teammates ahead of the final two friendlies against Chelsea and Lazio.
The 22-year-old posted a picture of himself and his family at the airport in Uruguay, preparing for their trip to London and saying goodbye to his home country.
There’s a lot of excitement about Torreira’s potential to add something to the current Arsenal team, and if he can start as strongly as fellow young midfielder Matteo Guendouzi then he has nothing to worry about.
For now, though, it’s all about getting him up to speed, and used to playing with his new teammates.
The start of the Premier League season is just two weeks away for Arsenal, and they’ll need Torreira to be ready to shut down Manchester City’s impressive attack.
All of Arsenal’s World Cup stars should return to training on Monday, other than Danny Welbeck, who remained in Russia with England until the penultimate day of the tournament.
Hopefully they can all slot into the team without much fuss.
