Kingsley Coman has had no contact with Arsenal and he ‘normally’ expects to remain with Bayern Munich for the new season.
The winger has been heavily linked with a €50m Arsenal offer although that price never seemed likely to convince the Germans to part with the 22-year-old.
Arsenal have been looking for a wide player all summer but the Coman links were never going to come to anything.
“I’ve had no contact with Arsenal,” Coman said.
Coman was then asked if that meant he would be staying at Bayern for the new season and his reply was a little strange.
“Normally, yes,” he replied.
The journalist then asked him to clarify what he meant and Coman replied, “Normally means normally, I’m at Bayern now. I’ve extended my contract for five years, so normally I will stay here.”
Given the strangeness of this answer the reporter pushed again, asking if someone had spoken to him. “No, nothing happened,” he replied.
Most likely Coman means ‘I’ve signed a contract for five years and the plan is to stay at Bayern but in football, you never know what can happen’ – a standard footballer statement that commits their future one way while leaving the door open for them to go another.
Either way, he isn’t coming to Arsenal and that is a surprise to absolutely nobody.
