Arsenal’s negotiations to sell David Ospina to Argentine side Boca Juniors are ‘on track’, according to reports in the country.

TyC Sports report that negotiations are going well, but there are a couple of obstacles to the goalkeeper’s signature. Firstly, his high wages, and secondly, Boca’s quota of foreign players. They can only have six in the squad and Ospina would be their eighth.

TyC Sports reporter German Garcia Grova adds that the 29-year-old goalkeeper is keen on getting consistent playing time, but is reluctant to return to South America at this stage in his career. With that and the wage issue, he might take some convincing.

This isn’t the first time Boca Juniors have been involved in an Ospina transfer story. Last month, the media linked Tigres to a move for the goalkeeper. At the time they reported that Boca were planning to sign Tigres’ Nahuel Guzman, and the Mexican side wanted the Arsenal goalkeeper as a replacement.

Now it seems Boca Juniors are just planning to cut out the middle man and sign Ospina themselves. We’ll see if they’re any more successful in their attempts than their Mexican counterparts.

Ospina is currently on holiday, after England knocked Colombia out of the World Cup earlier this week.
