Aaron Ramsey’s agent has responded to a Twitter ITK account that claimed the midfielder had agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal.

Ramsey is out of contract next summer and the club are keen to tie the Welshman down to a new long-term deal rather than have to sell him now to avoid losing him for free next season.

With the World Cup now over, the media are free to get back to making up transfer nonsense and it didn’t take long for rumours to start appearing on social media.

Although it’s a bit of a stretch to call one of the Twitter ITK accounts ‘media’ you know what I mean. I’m sure it won’t be long before the Daily Star and Express are running this story.

Anyway, here’s what happened:

Speaking for himself back at the end of May, Ramsey seemed in no hurry to leave Arsenal. In fact, he was excited about the new era the club is entering

When asked if he’s looking forward to working with Emery, Ramsey’s response suggested he’s keen to stay.

“Of course,” he answered. “I haven’t spoken to him at all yet, but I think it’s an exciting time for the club. I can’t wait to get back there now.”
