Arsenal are edging closer to announcing their second, third and fourth major signings of the transfer window in the coming weeks, according to various reports.

Stephan Lichtsteiner was the first to join the club this summer, back in early June. Then reliable reports suggested Sokratis Papastathopoulos would also sign, but not until July, for tax reasons.

After that, David Ornstein revealed that Arsenal were in advanced talks to sign Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, with the pursuit of Lucas Torreira ‘ongoing’.

Reliable Sky Sports and Di Marzio reporter Fabrizio Romano wrote on Monday that Torreira is about to have his medical. David Amoyal then also confirmed that the signing of the Uruguayan was ‘all but done’.

Slightly frustratingly for fans, we still have no announcements on the three deals, with only Lichtsteiner confirmed as an Arsenal player. From the sounds of things though, all three could be announced by July 1st.

If that’s the case, then Arsenal are dealing with the challenge ahead of them this window impressively. A goalkeeper, a second right-back, a combative midfielder, and a centre-back were all at the top of most fans’ lists of signings, and it looks like they’ll all be done with a month to spare.

Being incredibly optimistic, there’s still a little more the club could do after that. Another centre-back wouldn’t be a bad idea, and a winger could help give the team some width. For now though, it’s good to see the club making signings where Unai Emery needs them.
