Stanislav Lobotka’s agent has told Spanish media that he’s spoken to Arsenal about his client, but doesn’t expect a transfer, due to the club’s pursuit of Lucas Torreira.

In fact, Branislav Jasurek seems to be under the impression that Arsenal have already signed the Uruguayan from Sampdoria. He spoke to Spanish outlet La Voz de Galicia about the possibility of Lobotka moving to North London.

Arsenal have bought Torreira to play six, so I do not think it’s going to happen,” he admitted. We only had a few words about feelings about the club, about what we think about Stanko’s future, but nothing in particular. Absolutely nothing in particular.”

Lobotka has a release clause of €50m, which is probably one of the main reasons why the transfer was never very likely to happen for Arsenal. Lucas Torreira was available for half that price, and the Gunners could even pay in instalments if they upped the bid to €30m.

Jasurek admitted in his interview that it’s unlikely a club will pay the full €50m at this stage. However, he added that if there’s a “really good offer”, there wouldn’t be any problems completing a transfer.

With the links to Sevilla’s Ever Banega as well, there’s not really any great need for Arsenal to sign Lobotka anyway. They can only play so many midfielders in the starting eleven each week, and already have Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles on the books.

It looks like this one probably won’t happen.
