Aaron Ramsey is speaking to Real Madrid and Barcelona, as a number of teams try to lure him away from Arsenal this summer, according to reports.

Update: The wording in the Bild transfer centre is unclear, and it’s possible they mean to say that Milinkovic-Savic is in talks with the two Spanish clubs, not Ramsey. Feel free to check out the original source and make your own mind up.

Corriere dello Sport reported earlier this week that Lazio wanted the midfielder to replace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, in rumours we covered here. German outlet Bild relayed the rumours on their transfer ticker, but worryingly they added that the player is “talking to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, among others”.

Ramsey only has a year left on his contract with the club at this stage, so this summer is likely to be pivotal for him. Either he’ll agree to stay for one more year, sign a long-term extension, or leave.

It makes sense that the Welshman would want to keep his options open with the top clubs, in case things don’t work out with Arsenal. If the top Spanish clubs really are interested though, it’ll be difficult to persuade Ramsey to stay.

Hopefully, the rumour just comes from links between Ramsey and the clubs in the past. Back in 2016, the media linked the 27-year-old to a £50m move to Barcelona, and he refused to rule out the possibility of leaving for Spain at some point in the future.

With any luck, there’s nothing more in the story than that, because Arsenal need their Player of the Season in the coming campaign.
