Fenerbahce’s new sporting director Damien Comolli is reportedly set to travel to England to hold talks with Arsenal over David Ospina, with the Colombian preparing to leave the club.

Turkish Football write that the Fenerbahce chief is travelling to England and France ‘over the next few days’ to hold talks with several clubs over players the Turkish side are targeting.

One of those clubs is Arsenal, as Ospina is on the Super Lig side’s shortlist. They’ve made signing a new goalkeeper a ‘priority’ this summer, according to the report.

The Mirror also claim the North London side ‘are likely to sell David Ospina’ this summer. With just a year left on his contract, and Arsenal in the market for a replacement, there isn’t much reason to doubt the claims either.

Petr Cech had a very poor season in 2017/18, making a number of mistakes directly leading to goals, yet Ospina remained second-choice anyway. When he did get his big chance, in the Europa League run, he was similarly disappointing. There really isn’t much reason for him to want to stay, nor Arsenal to keep him.

Hopefully the club can get a decent fee for the goalkeeper, which can go towards Arsenal’s upcoming signings. Bernd Leno seems the most likely candidate in goal, but we’ll see what happens.
