Arsenal-linked Marouane Fellaini will announce his future this weekend, when his current deal with Manchester United comes to an end.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Belgium’s final group game against England, journalists asked Fellaini whether the uncertainty surrounding his future was affecting him mentally.

“No, since a few months, I am used to it,” he responded. “I am strong mentally to deal with it and soon I will say where I will be playing next season.”

Reporters followed up those comments by asked if that confirmation would come on Sunday, when the player’s Manchester United contract expires on July 1st. Fellaini answered: “Yes.”

For now, that’s all we know for sure. Belgian outlet HLN are reporting that the midfielder has reached a new agreement with Manchester United, and will remain with his current club for another two years. This doesn’t seem very likely though.

The club have just signed another midfielder, so Fellaini can be even less sure of a spot in the starting eleven than he was last year. Plus, if he is going to stay with United, there’s no reason to wait until July 1st to announce it. He could do so today.

I don’t think Arsenal will sign him either though. Not one reliable journalist has come out to say it’s happening, even when we’re just days away from an announcement, and the player is implying he’s already signed his new deal. There’d be more noise around Fellaini-to-Arsenal if it were really on the cards, in my opinion.

Most likely, he’s heading abroad. We’ll find out this weekend.
