Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Yacine Adli and Sokratis Papastathopoulos in the coming days, after reports they’ve agreed to join the North London club this week.

Goal claim that confirmation of Adli’s arrival is expected to follow ‘in the coming days’, along with an update on Unai Emery’s coaching staff and the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The Guardian initially corroborated the story, before backtracking and editing their article to say the players were only ‘closing in’ on a move. Perhaps that suggests it’s not quite as close as Goal are claiming, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Adli would be joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, with Arsenal set to pay £223,000 in training compensation fees to the Ligue 1 club, as the player is still a minor. He reportedly rejected a contract in the French capital to sign a three-year deal with an option for an additional two with the Gunners.

Meanwhile Sokratis is joining from Borussia Dortmund, for a fee of around £15m. According to his father, his medical took place on Tuesday, and he’ll also sign a three year deal, but with an option for one additional year.

Overall, if Arsenal’s first transfer business is picking up Lichtsteiner, Sokratis and a young French talent for just over £15m total, they’re doing well. Hopefully the rest of the budget will go on someone even more exciting (a goalkeeper, preferably).
