Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Yacine Adli from Unai Emery’s former club Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in Italy, and they’ll only have to pay £223,000 to bring him to North London.

Corriere dello Sport write that Arsenal are trying to complete a deal for the 17-year-old, with Unai Emery giving the youngster guarantees about his development with the club.

Adli’s contract with PSG comes to an end this summer, and with no agreement over an extension, he can move on a free transfer. However, as he’s still a minor, Arsenal would have to pay €255,000 (£223,000) in compensation, per UEFA regulations.

The Italian outlet claim Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Manchester City and Juventus all wanted to sign the player. It’s no surprise, given he has 20 goal contributions in 20 games for the French u17s/u18s. He also made his senior PSG debut in May, and the club nominated him as their outstanding youth prospect last season.

Rumours last week suggested a ‘top Spanish club’ were trying to threaten Arsenal’s move for the player, but fortunately those reports seem to have died down. It’s just up to the Gunners to make sure they get the deal over the line now. Hopefully they can do so.
